Hmm. That's about all for now. Waves. been busy
Monday 2 October, 2006 at 11:40PM (Nereus) :: permalink :: comments (4) I haven't posted for nearly a month - just haven't got around to it or had the time lately. Been lots happening - I've started classes again for the Fall semester but at a different campus now, although still part of the City University of New York. My Mum was in New York staying at a big hotel in the heart of Manhattan for about five days - she left on Wednesday of last week - so we spent that weekend doing all the touristy type things like a couple of hours on a cruise around Manhattan (yes, on a boat), going to the top of the Empire State Building (damn it's a long way up), a few hours at MoMA (Museum of Modern Art - amazing place) and going out to dinner etc etc. Ice and I actually booked a room at the same hotel for the Saturday night to save all the time travelling back and forth, which made it like a mini-holiday for us too. Then last weekend we went to a wedding in Brooklyn which was fun - gratz Lilly & Leonid! We had a good night and have photos too. Gawd I really have a backlog of stuff to post. Been working on a slightly different layout for a month or two, although I haven't got far with it. We both got new flatscreen monitors recently (19" viewable - was a good deal going) and I was kinda horrified to see some of the colors I used on my current layout looked very different - presumably the colors are not 'websafe' ..for example the current background now looks a kind of dirty grey color, whereas on the old CRT monitor it was a nice shade of olive (yes, I've correctly adjusted the color settings on the new monitors). Anyway the new monitors are native 1280x1024 resolution which I really like - much more room on the desktop (my previous monitor was native 1024x768). I'm now tossing up whether I should stick to the existing 800x600 layout here or increase the width and maybe use three columns, since so few people use 800 width resolution now. I don't like using liquid layouts at all, as things can turn to custard real fast both technically and asthetically when you're floating images and using other CSS properties heavily. I wish IE would adhere to accepted web standards, particularly with CSS properties. Anyway I'm still here, alive and kicking. The other weasel is as awesome as ever - her and my Mum seemed to get on well, so that's all good. I'll be back at some stage. Cheers. |
