the da vinci code

The ending of the Da Vinci Code webquest ..well I won't tell you what happens at the end, but it's the challenge of the quest itself rather than the result that makes it entertaining anyway. If you get stuck (which you probably will) I have all the answers to complete the quest. Try to solve it yourself, but if you can't, then you can view the solutions further down this entry, step by step, both in brief, and then in more detail. Good luck! ..update 10th March, 2004.. There are now two quests available: the da vinci code solutions
These are the answers (in brief format) to solve the original Da Vinci Quest (scroll down for more detailed solutions):
These are the answers to solve the second Da Vinci Quest (scroll down for more detailed solutions):
Many visitors here have asked for details of how the solutions were found, so here's how: detailed solutions - first quest
When you start this first quest, you are posed with a fairly simple question, The next screen contains the following message, followed by three input boxes for the answer: The next screen gives the following message:
To solve this one, you select (highlight) and copy the text in the grey box (as pictured) and then paste it into a word processor such as MS Word, and the font will change into enlish lettering and give you the following: The next screen displays the following message: When you arrive at www.robertlangdon.com - The Official Website Of Harvard Symbologist Robert Langdon - have a read because some of the info on this page will come in handy later in the quest. When you're done reading, click on the 'Contact' word or the envelope image at the lower right of the page. The resulting page gives the message: Thank you for writing. I apologize for this automated response, but I am currently in Florence attempting to locate the key to "The Prophecy" - an encoded parchment that may have been written by Leonardo Da Vinci. I will respond to your message upon my return. Go to the relic-bay site, and enter the initials LSPDV in the input box where it says "Enter keywords related to the relic you are seeking." and then click the 'find relics' button. The search will give you a result with an option 'Click to view item >>' ..click it. That is Gate Three completed I believe. On to Gate Four. On the resulting page (the detailed auction item), there is a banner at the bottom of the page for the Depository Bank of Zurich. Click it. In the resulting page there is an input box to 'gain access'. Enter the name Marie Denarnaud (from the previous relic-bay auction page) and hit the login button. You will then be asked for an account number to verify your identity. The account number is actually the Fibonacci Sequence, which is 1123581321 (this also comes from the Da Vinci Code book). Thank you for your inquiry. I'm currently editing out of the office but I'll get back to you as soon as I return. Robert, if this is you please leave me a message on our employee message board (use my name to login). I've reset the password to something we both know - the name of the city where we had our photo taken together recently. If you go back to their website (doubleknightbooks.com) there is a button near the top left 'Enter Our Site' - click it. The resulting page provides a link to the employee message board. Click on that link and you will asked to identify yourself. Enter the employee name Jonas Faukman and click submit, and you will then be asked for the password. The name of the city where Jonas and Robert had their photo taken together recently comes from the robertlangdon.com website I mentioned earlier to keep note of.. there is a photo there with the subtitle "Robert Langdon and editor J. Faukman celebrating Venetian Carnivale", so the city is Venice (if you right-click the image and look at the properties, the name of the image is langdoninvenice.jpg just to make it more obvious). Enter Venice as the password to access Jonas' messages. The fourth message is titled "Jonas, I've got the key!" - click on it. The message provides a link to a 'secret' page at robertlangdon.com/secretpage.htm where you will then be asked for a password: By my reckoning, you are now at Gate Six.
The key (left) is a grid, and each section of the grid contains some letters or numbers. The prophecy (right) contains a collection of rectangles with a dot inside each. Some of the rectangles have one or more borders missing - this is used to show which one of the sections of the grid it corresponds to, and the dot inside tells you the position of the letter (or number) to use from that corresponding grid box. For example, a rectangle with all four sides intact would correspond to the grid box in the middle containing 'QRST' as it also has all four sides intact. Pretty easy once you've got that figured. The resulting merssage is the truth will be told in 2003. Enter this into the box provided on the page which shows the key and the prophecy parchments and hit submit. Congrats, you are done. There is a congratulatory message which refers you to New York phone number 1-212-782-9932. If you call this number, you get a recorded message from Dan Brown himself, basically congratulating you for completing the quest. Due to popular request, and since I'm living in New York, I've rung it again and the transcript is as follows: *music plays* Hi, this is Dan Brown, author of the Da Vinci Code. If you're calling this number, I assume you've solved the web quest, so congratulations, well done. So that's the first quest.
detailed solutions - second quest
"Welcome, fellow reader of The Da Vinci Code. Leonardo was a known trickster who liked to hide secrets in plain sight, often encoded within his artwork. Now, like the secrets hidden in Leonardo's art, a series of codes has been hidden for you. These codes are visible to the naked eye, and they are already in your possession." This is the start of the second webquest, 'Uncover The Code'. After a couple more intro screens, the first of three test questions are posed: A Florence wife possessed a knowing smile, and dark mysterious eyes that did beguile. Her portrait 'La Gioconda rose to fame, although we know her by another name. What is the more common name of Leonardo Da Vinci's famous painting 'La Gioconda'? Pretty straight forward this one - The Mona Lisa. Indeed, dear friend, you've made a solid start, and earned a second question de l'art. Does Mona hang in Venice or Rome (or is it somewhere else that she calls home?). In what city does The Mona Lisa reside? Another fairly straight forward one - the Mona Lisa resides in Paris, in the Louvre. Correct again, you're very nearly there. One test remains - concerning Jacques Saunière. A man of art, he garnered deep respect, among the brethren of a secret sect. To what secret society did Jacques Saunière belong? A quick Google search will tell you that Jacques Saunière was the curator at the Louvre, and was a member of the Priory of Sion, which is the answer for this third question. Five authors brave gave quotes to DVC. Look closely to their left and you will see, a string of backwards symbols heading north (beginning near the quote occuring fourth). Gaze long and hard, have faith, there's something there. When it appears, reflect on it with care. Once you see the hidden code, you must answer this question: What enigmatic sculpture stands one degree north of the location indicated in the code? Ok now things get a little difficult. First you need to find the code on the book cover. As suggested, It's next to the fourth comment on the back cover. The code is inverted, so look at in a mirror (reflect on it) to reveal the actual code: We now move on to the second question in this quest. One deciphered portion of Kryptos offers the enigmatic message: They used the earth's magnetic field. The information was gathered and transmitted underground to an unknown location. Does Langley know about this? They should: it's buried out there somewhere. Who knows the exact location? According to Kryptos, what are the initials of the person who knows the exact location?" Further reading on the Kryptos sculpture reveals this answer. According to Gillogly's translation of Kryptos, the above decryption continues with the following message: ..who knows the exact location? Only WW. This was his last message. Thirty eight degrees fifty seven minutes six point five seconds north, seventy seven degrees eight minutes forty four seconds west. ID by rows. So the answer for this second question are the initials WW. In addition, on the back cover of the book in the torn bit you can see the words 'only WW knows' if you turn the book upside down. There was a lot of speculation as to who WW was, but Sanborn finally confirmed the answer in January 2005: WW stands for William Webster, who was the Director of the CIA at the time that Kryptos was installed, and according to Sanborn was one of the driving forces in getting more art for the Agency. When Kryptos was dedicated in 1990, Sanborn gave an envelope to Webster which allegedly contained the answers (however, Sanborn has since said that the envelope did not contain the full story). This takes us to the third question in this quest: The cover flap describes the novel's plot, but simple words can often hide a lot. Within those parameters (and shrouded fast), resides a mystic phrase from ages past. To make your quest... abandon any fears, if you are bold, the font of truth appears. Ok we're looking for an eight word phrase here, letters numbering 2,5,2,4,3,3,7,3. If you look inside the covers of the book, you will find that some letters are in bold font. Extracting these letters (and one apostrophe) and putting them together gives you the answer to this question: The next question is based on the above phrase. For which ancient brotherhood (still active today) does this phrase have special meaning? I didn't have a clue about this one, but a quick search solved that. As it turns out, 'Is there no help for the widow's son?' was the title of a now famous talk given before a Mormon audience in 1974 that sought to establish a connection between Freemasonry and the founder of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, Joseph Smith. The talk was secretly taped and has been widely circulated, much to the chagrin of many in the Mormon Church. Many Masonic lodges have 'widow's son' events to this day. The answer, therefore, is Freemasons. Nearly there. Now another cypher question: A dolphin and an anchor (but no sea). A triangle on white is also key. Between the two you'll find a crimson field, Upon it printed faintly is a seal. Each number to a chapter points the way. Each chapter starts with words in muted gray. The letter that is first is what you seek, Thirteen of them (and though it all looks greek). Add three all-seeing-eyes - a perfect square, Begin at E, and Caesar guides you there. This uses the Caesar's Box or Square which was used in the first quest. On the back cover of the book just near the barcode is a faint seal with a bunch of numbers. Each number refers to the first letter of the first word that appears in that corresponding chapter (for example, the number 8 would refer to the first letter of the first word in chapter 8). Once you've got them all, arrange them in a Caesar's Square like so (the § sign represents the eye and pyramid image in the sequence of numbers): E U U N Now you just read down column by column just like in the first quest and you have your answer: This phrase is Latin for "Out of many, one" which appears on the Great Seal of the United States and apparently refers to the unification of the thirteen colonies into one nation. Almost done. The last part is more an instruction: The eyes of Mona Lisa launched this quest, and now her knowing gaze lays it to rest. The French would say her 'oeil droit' holds the key, just point and click on it and you're home free! In French, 'oeil droit' means 'right eye' - not a tough one here - just click on the left eye of the face of Mona Lisa (her right, your left). Congrats, you're done! comments (118)
Colleen Here is another fun puzzle game Weasel...you have to find ways to get out of rooms. Its great! http://www.albartus.com/motas kat hi, i loved ur solutions for the da vinci code quest. i live in australia, so i dont possess any american notes... the answer for that question was very helpful. just wanted to express my thanks and gratitute.. i dislike not being able to finish a puzzle. Since I'm living in New York, I'll call it again and post the transcript: *music plays* Hi, this is Dan Brown, author of the Da Vinci Code. If you're calling this number, I assume you've solved the web quest, so congratulations, well done. sonia hello Robert NOT Langdon phew! finally cracked all the codes! took me 3 weeks without help of course! most frustratingly, the end was a phone number. unfortunately i'm from kuala lumpur, malaysia and calling this number was going to be so bloody expensive. thanks to Nereus for posting what the phone call/dan brown actually said. Che Hi Nereus! Where did you get the password VENICE? I am done with the quest (with a little help from the hints of course!) Venice was the only one I could not figure out, (thanks to your solutions) I hope Dan Brown comes up with the third quest soon. Great website by the way. You are awesome. I think that the message from Dan Brown in the end is cool although it wasn't what I expected. : ) Looking forward to my phone bill next month, haha. Nereus When you send an email to jfaukman@doubleknightbooks.com (part 6 on my solutions page), you get the following autoreply back: Thank you for your inquiry. I'm currently editing out of the office but I'll get back to you as soon as I return. Robert, if this is you please leave me a message on our employee message board (use my name to login). I've reset the password to something we both know - the name of the city where we had our photo taken together recently. If you look on the page you were directed to in question 4, you'll see a picture with the subtitle "Robert Langdon and editor J. Faukman celebrating Venetian Carnivale". Venetian means it's in Venice, so that pretty much covers it. If you right click that image and check properties, you'll also find the name of the image is "langdoninvenice.jpg" which reinforces the clue a bit :) cheers for your comments :) Isaias Hi how did you figure this one out. I'm still baffled! Charlie on the 'Another gate awaits you...famous code ...brutus slew(Caeser - right?)...25 a perfect square (alphabet has 26' Just divide the letters by 5 across and 5 more across..and so on. you have five lettere acros and 5 letters down....perfect square. now go and read top left down to bottom left then back upto top and read down again tand so forth...good luck! nat hey Jessie Hi! I have the paperback edition unfortunately, so the help with a photo of the hard back was welcome. Also, where one of the clues for the bank account asks you to look at page 44, I rightly assumed the page would be different in the paperback. Finally found it on page 91. At the moment I am looking at a virtual tour of the Louvre online it has really brought events alive for me, never having been lucky enough to see Paris or any of its historic buildings. Now looking forward to the movie, set for release May 2006 , let's all hope Tom Hanks does the role justice! Bob Interesting that nobody has noted that you can't have a latitude of 37°57'65" W because there are only 60 seconds in a minute. So is the real answer 38°58'05"W? hyrulio i read the da vinci code on holiday, and have done one quiz, i am on the 3rd of the other (25 a perfect square). i have the answer but WHERE DO I TYPE IT IN?????? i have tried everywhere i could think and none worked, unless im spelling it wrong please help quicksilver actually if u use micrsoft street&trips 05' u can get it to work.but there's nothing there.the first is just west of richmond va.and the 2nd is just south of washington dc,in maryland.but still fun.like everone else spent too much time on it,but still had blast playing.roflol! Big thank you from Norway! joysi praise be to the author who was brave enough to cover very controversial issues of the Catholic Church. if there is a cult for this, pray tell so that i may pay tribute to this great mind and courageous heart. kudos to angels and demons! kudos to dan brown! (try to read "The Dark Side of Catholicism", a very insightful book) BTW my love for Jesus was not dimished but greatly increased. Brownsuga omg .. i think im gonna go crazy lol .. WHICH EYE????? i dont get which pic or eye to click on :Oo: plz help Nereus Well.. there's only one big Mona Lisa face to click on there and it's kind of hard to miss.. so if you click on one eye and it doesn't work, then click the other :) Mentioned on the solutions above anyway - click on the left eye of the face of mona lisa (her right, your left) Roland Porth I just read the paperback edition of The Da Vinci Code (released March 28, 2006) and noticed a few anomolies in the title and author headings on various headings. I thought they were typos at first but I now believe they are anagrams hidden by Dan Brown - but for what purpose. A Google search has found nothing on these anagrams so I believe no major discussion has come about. I plan to change that. Here's a list of the pages, the substitutes, and my guess at the anagram Page 55 - THE DA VINCI CODE = THE ANKH FENDILE CODE - ANKH FENDILE = KNIFE HANDLE Page 89 - THE DA VINCI CODE = THE DE LANCS CODE - DE LANCS = CANDLES (Silas used these - this was the first anagram I discovered) Page 128 - DAN BROWN = DAS BRILLI - DAS BRILLI = BILLIARDS Page 131 - THE DA VINCI CODE = THE LA SUFRETE CODE - LA SUFRETE = TRUE FALSE (Ying yang, positive negative, 1,0 in binary - two halves) Page 178 - DAN BROWN = DEON TIGALDO - DEON TIGALDO ?= GO TO IRELAND? (not sure - many possibilities, but this jumped out) Page 199 - THE DA VINCI CODE = THE DE YSOSY CODE - DE YSOSY = ODYSSEY (first one I anagramed) Page 242 - DAN BROWN = MER REVE - MER REVE ? REV MERE (Mere = mother in french) REV MOTHER? Page 322 - DAN BROWN = *** This page begins Chapter 78 and those don't have the text of the author or title anywhere else in the book except here - three stars appear. Very curious. Just wanted to get this out there and see what others think- I don't know if these are clues to Brown's next book or perhaps some contest in the works. rebecca i dont know if this happened to anyone else but i've got to the relic bay bit, and theres no link to the bank of zurich so im stuck! anyonegot any suggestions?? Wakeel hi, i have a paperback copy of the Da Vinci Code and on page 155 Shawn I noticed both the anomalies and "SOS" noted above, but cannot find anything on the web about these. Does anyone have any ideas? brandon Page 242 - DAN BROWN = MER REVE - MER REVE ? REV MERE (Mere = mother in french) REV MOTHER?.... I didn't really like this answer so i kept trying, and came up with Johanne Vermeer is an artist whose Lace Maker painting is housed at the Louvre I could be wrong but it seems a little too fitting to be coincidence Steph Thank you to Roland. I've been looking everywhere for clues or solutions to these anagrams in the new paperback. This is the first place that I've found that has mentioned it. One correction though - on page 192 in my book, the replaced author name is Reon Tigaldo (not deon). I couldn't find any answer for it though. Also on page 138, the word "numbers" is in a strange font. I don't know if that is significant, but I noticed it and thought it was odd. Can't wait for the movie! Roland Porth Steph, On page 178 (not 192) it is in fact REON TIGALDO - I made a typo. The anagram "solution" already has the correct letters included. I simply hit the "d" instead of the "r" when typing that up. "Numbers" on page 128 (not 138 - it is the DAS BRILLI page) has come up on some other boards - but not here. Here are the links to other pages I have posted to and where some discussion is taking place - please join in! :) brandon thanx for the (lack there of) credit for vermeer on the yahoo answers page roland swingerbone Brandon, "lack there of"? I posted your name and linked to the comment on this page... What other credit can I give? That was all the info I have for you... i'm confused at your parenthetical here. hwild Hey peps, Go to google.com and type the Da Vinci Code Quest. There is a NEW one! Check it out! Well, you have to have gmail though or some other related... Good luck with finding the way to participate. It took me the whole afternoon yesterday to do 3 puzzles. I didn't have the book with me, rely on my vague memory and searching Internet. Can you dig it? By the way, no posting answers until it's all done May 21 '06 unless you don't want to be a finalist... KnifemareX On the topic of the anagrams, I did a little extra work on Reon Tigaldo, because "Go to Ireland" (though admittingly correct), can also be rearranged to form "Golden Ratio", which Langdon lectured on to his class. The Golden Ratio is PHI, which is 1.61. There ya go. ejwrox I think when you say "Dan Brown" and "Da Vinci Code" are missing in some headings, it's just because it's the start of a new chapter, I don't think they're "missing" and can be anagrammed. Most authors don't include headings when they start a new chapter. Daggart Apparently, Vermeer is another painter who's thought to have something to do with the Priory of Sion, do to useing "grail geometry" in his paintings. I'm not really sure what that means yet, but if you look up grail geometry in google, he's the guy that keeps coming up. So yeah, definately fitting. Still trying to find something that ties all the anagrams together. Roland Porth Daggart, great background info - seems like a small group of people are slowly uncovering various pieces of information - I suggested to Xaandria that we pool resources and hope we can do so - the main clue sill bothering me is "numbers" on page 128... Shar I also noticed "Numbers" in a different font and SOS. Do you think this could refer to Morse Code? I know the following . . . notes a change of location in the story line, but I can't stop thinking there is something more to it: page 33 . . . I read that Kryptos contains some Morse Code. Just an observance. I'm going to keep working on it. Katlyn OMG!!!! that was hard for me... for being only 14 yrs old.... i got the first part of the quest easily, but when it got to the actually "codes," i had a little help from a forum page but i tried to work it out by myself with my book but i guess it didnt work... i am so ashamed iorhael Hi, I want to thank you so much for posting your details of the Dan Brown/Robert Langdon quests here! My husband I are solving them together...we got through the second one, though he guessed E Pluribus Unum on his own (using a Gordian-knot type of approach :o!). I have been going through the first quest but I didn't receive either auto email response so your site has been a huge help in getting past those hurdles. I now have to solve the key to unlock the prophecy. Meanwhile I started the google one for the movie last night...but the two obvious names for the symbol on Robert Langdon's face were incorrect...I don't want to type any more spoilers here but if you any hints that you don't mind typing here, they would be greatly appreciated! Al Hey can anyone tell me how to use the numbers 13-3-2-21-1-1-8-5 to solve O Draconian Devil I already know what it means but i was hoping someone could explain it to me. Debbie I read the book 'Da Vinci Code' 13-3-2-21-1-1-8-5 to solve O, Draconian Devil! to get Leonardo da vinci! jay i need help on the question fo todays quest... In his Italian Journeys, William Dean Howells writes of the picturesque, the improbable, and what else in Ferrara?...... someone please help me Blue Does anyone know the name of that symbol? I was sure it was the all seeing eye, as it was over his eye, which would make the eye part of the drawing. I also tried fire (the alchemy symbol) to no avail. The stupid site they send you to crashes right as the menu tries to load, so I'm stuck. :( lil bubba omg, im 13years old and finished the da vinci code last night as part of my year nine english. i live in australia but had never heard of dan brown before or read any of his books(i was missing out big time) LOVE THIS BOOK!!! IVE FINISHED BOTH THE QUESTS AND NEED MORE!!! CHEERS TheRusskie In response to the appearance of "SOS" on pg. 155, I have done extensive research on the topic and found the following: A Christian Saint by the name of Tertullian was born c.155 AD (the page number). The man was strongly against sexuality and the feminine, and said things like, "You, woman, are the devil's gateway," or, "You are the unsealer of that forbidden tree. You destroyed so easily God's image-man." He was also against the work called "Song of Songs" (or SOS) which talked of the goodness of sexuality and pleasure. An interesting correlation, if you ask me... jessica Christian Saint by the name of Tertullian was born c.155 AD (the page number That is very interesting, but in my version of the book "SOS" appears on page 144 not 155 - at the start of chapter 33. Margot A friend IMEd me this pattern and I figured it out and I wanted to see if I could figure out more about where it came from... i googled and found this site and thought I would explain the pattern... This is the fibbonicci pattern in an order that I will explain after I explain the fibbonicci pattern... up to 8 numbers the fibboncci pattern is...
looking at 13-3-2-21-1-1-8-5 start at the second 1....
Where rules were important: the numbers are in a loop like sturcture such that counting 1 back from 13 is 5. This is important on two occations. Once to get the 5 8 and once to get the 21 after the 13. counting backwards was important for obvious reasons. Starting at 2nd 1 was important for obvious reasons. Cheers, Jim Eastham Several codes appear ONLY in the March 2006 printing of "The Da Vinci Code." Also in chapter 33 "SOS" appears above the chapter beginning. (Perhaps a clue that chapter numbers matter, not page numbers?) Another code "***" (but 3, 5-pointed stars, not asterisks) appears on PAGE 322, and in different chapters in both size editions that I have. So, the page number is relevant, while the chapter is not. Another code that is located in the text, instead of in the page headers is the word "numbers" in bold print and in a font different than anywhere in the book. This code is located in chapter 29. It might be significant that this word is on the same page as "Das Brilli" in both size editions. OK... Here's something new that I haven't seen on any blog! That's what I have at the moment. Any solutions out there? Anirudh B Hello I would like to know what does the phrase harvest a wet knife mean in the context of the book Da Vinci code.If someone has the answer kindly mail me at bhat.anirudh@gmail.com Harley Blue Gaskin Hi i would like to point out to all persons looking at this comment, the davinci code is not real-the transcripts are computor animated, hence why never seen by the public and press. I also have proof the the code on the transcript was cracked years before 2003. I am only 21 years old and goig back to when I was 14-in school we used EXACTLY the same code to talk to our best freinds without the teacher noticeing what we were writing. Thank you for reading my comment. any questions or other comments please contact me on rydemafia313@hotmail.co.uk Sophie i loved this quest it was brill i a going 2 c the film with my mum and dad. i am the only 13 year old in ma tutor that has read it. i found it gr8. Diego I want to say that i saw the movie and although there many parts that are identical to the book many of the details about the history and some of the plot is left out. Obviously to keep the movie down to 2 hours and change. The movie was alright but of couse the book is always 10 times better..... Dan Dascalescu I have posted a video of solving the final challenge in ~5 minutes, using macro recording and accelerated playback. You can find the video on my blog, http://dandv.blogspot.com , along with some commentary about how I developed the 5-minute solution. Tim Thanks Jim~ I noticed the 155/SOS, 322/***, and "numbers" thing in my ppbk All I can think of, for "***", is that it's a common way authors The anagrams people have discovered (and solved) are very Carolina hey.. loved ur answers.. was going nuts to solve this till i found this site.. i live in Peru, so i have spanish as native language.. so i dont understand much of ancient english.. thanks a lot! Kae when you go to robertlangdon.com, you see robert and jonas celebrating in "venetian" carnivale.. basically, the last place they had their pic taken was in Venice. If you save that pic, you get, "langdoninvenice.jpg". when you save the ankh, as Nereus said, you get "nicetrypal.jpg". Pretty funny! Jordan J Hi has anyone done the eurostar quest? I have and im 11 but some people older than me said it was hard, I suppose it's different to others. By the way I didn't use your cheats but the links to the sites were good, not as hard as the eurostar one though. The eurostar quest is now finished for compotition but you can still play for fun. Mike Hey can anyone tell me how to use the numbers 13-3-2-21-1-1-8-5 to solve O Draconian Devil I already know what it means but i was hoping someone could explain it to me. John O draconian devil and oh lame saint are anagrams meaning that they say one thing and mean another. The numbers have nothing to do with the anagrams. Springheel In reply to Mike: Langdon discovers that the numbers are an anagram for the Fibonacci numbers. He realizes that this fact is a clue to solving the text below. In other words, he realizes that the text below - like the numbers - must be an anagram too. (The supposition: if the series of numbers is an anagram, the text is also an anagram). In the same way that Sophie rearranged the numbers to find a higher degree of order, Langdon rearranges the letters to find a higher degree of order - in other words, a series of words that makes more sense that the original words. There's no need to look for anything more complex, such as the way in which the numbers are rearranged indicates the way in which the letters should be rearranged... it's simply that they should be rearranged - that's all. Elizabeth Hey! I became a fan of DaVinci Code about a month ago then someone told me to read Angels and Demons, both utterly amaing. Anyway, I saw code/quest on Dan Brown's web page and of course had to challenge my intellect... I didn't get too far...but when I typed in the Kryptos location into Google and I came across your webpage I was surprised.. you have EVERYTHING figured out and now I couldn't do the quest without cheating :(..But I want to commend you on your brilliance! And dedication to cracking the code and revealing all the answers. Vicky I played the first webquest and the second webquest and I am only 16. How many kids my age have played this game? It was difficult at first, but the more I searched, the more everything was falling into place. I did get stuck a the envelope stage, the one where you have to contact the guy, but this was EXCELLENT!!! I have never taken on a more challenging game and come out alright. amanda wow. i started reading The DaVinci Code during a roadtrip from San Antonio,Texas to Big Bend National Park to Carlsbad,New Mexico to have something to do.The more i read the more i got into it.Before i knew it i was passing up stops to the bathroom just so i could read more. it was amazing. i found both of these quest and tried my best to finish...without looking at the answers.i peeked a couple of times.its amazing how fun i found it though.they should make us do this kind of stuff at school. so to vicky ^^... Kelli What fun. I stubbled across the codes in the book while reading. I thought it was strange thought maybe someone had not translated all the pages to the right language or something. Then I thought this whole book is about hidden messages I bet somehting is up. So I dogpiled one of the codes and found this sight. It was fun to do thanks. LighTer You know what ... Dan Brown is probablly at his house reading this page and laughing at the fact that we can't figure out the codes he put in the book ... *slaps Dan in the face* ! thats not nice ! Carisa Thanks for the answers and the explanations. It really made me understand the challanges more : ) For the e pluribus unum one, it was actually quite easy becuase i got the first letter (e) and then i just thought "what famous quote starts with e?" Well living in the United States I just immediately thought e pluribus unum : ) hehe About the calling the phone number thingy, I still live with my parents and I hope they didn't notice that weird long distance call in this months phone bill : ) Carisa Bothorth REON TIGALDO is also ORIENTAL GOD Mom Cox In comparing 2 different paper back books we have noticed that the anagrams and such noted by Roland Porth (posting April 10, 2006 02:31 AM) are on different pages. Example: page 131 -The La Sufrete Code is found on page 141 in another book. First is the second page of chapter 30, while the other is the third page for the other book. The first book is First Anchor Books Trade Paperback Edition, the other book is the First Anchor Books Mass-Market Edition. Just some more details to throw into the mix. Bubbles Few, I also founds the ***, SOS, and Mere Reve. I thought I was going ceazy, and everyone said I was paying too mutch attention to detail, witch I do not beleve. I just happened to notice, like I do alot of things. A filosophy I beleve in: confused how come whenever i try and put in "is there no hope for the widow's son" it says its incorrect. help please? Meme OooH! I had dsolved the entire second quiz by my self! I'm so happy cuz I'm only 14 & I'm a middeastern, so, its supposed to be hard, but ha! I solved it.. though i didnt get all of the first one by myself.. :(.. I had to have some help from the net cuz i cant call the numbers they provided.. anywayz, thanx a billion.. great illustrations. .:D cant wait till the Key of Solomon! Nikki because it's "is there no HELP for the widow's son" cheri I've read all of Dan Brown's Novel and I really enjoyed every part of it even the slightest details...this man is really a great writer and his novels are the best and the quiz is awesome i solved it easily :) am looking forward to read more of his latests Phil French So why is 'SOS' in the paperback at the start of Chapter 33, but not in the hardback? Toni battikh superb film. Briliant ideas. just perfect both the film and the book. reach on dan brown.amazing quest!! Amy Ok... De Lancs = candles I would love more ideas on the anagrams and stuff...if I don't figure it out, I might go crazy!! This reminds of me a game N-Man bought recently, called Syberia. It is adventure type game and you have to get all the little clues and follow hints to get from point a to point b. Interesting, I'll have to check it out.
