astrobiology

A while back, IceQueen mentioned a theory about an extract from Linda Goodman's Love Signs book about pregnancy that was, well, kind of amazing if it's true. It goes like this:

There must be a way of controlling birth that's not harmful to health, is both religiously and aesthetically acceptable, costs nothing and is 100% dependable. There is. It's called astrobiology and it works like this:

As the ancients who planned the conception of Kings knew well, a woman can conceive only during a certain approximately two-hour period of each Lunar month, when the Sun and Moon are exactly the same number of degrees apart as they were at the moment of the woman's first breath at birth. Without exception, a woman can conceive at no other time than this approximately two-hour period, easily determined if her birth data are known. Each individual woman's 'cycle' is different, bearing no relation to the generalized, and consequentially inaccurate, so-called 'rhythm method.' It's absolutely foolproof. And awesomely profound.

First of all, 'aesthetically acceptable'? I would've thought morally would be the correct word to use here. Whatever. Now if this is true, it means the chances of a woman ever becoming pregnant are pretty remote, regardless of how often she gets it on. In fact, with only a two hour window in a whole lunar month (30 days), the chances are only a 0.277% probability of getting pregnant - that's 1 in 360. Hmmm, just realized that 360 equals one full revolution ..coincidence? *shrug*

If this is true, the contraceptive manufacturing industry is in deep shit.

Michelle, a good friend of mine in NZ, had a son back in December last year, so I got Michelle to send me her and Tamatoa's birth data (her son) and we worked backwards to figure the time of conception was on 21st March 2001 at around 11pm, which meant Tamatoa was born about two weeks early using this theory. Either that, or he was born late and conception date was around 22nd February. I emailed this info to Michelle earlier today, so we'll see if it could be correct or not.

I'd really love to know if this theory is true or not, so if anyone reading this is trying to conceive, please (I know it sounds a bit impersonal, but..) try this theory out and let us know how you go. If you need, email us your date, time and place of birth and we can work out the ideal time to go like bunnies, according to this theory.

Use the comments and tell us what you think. Interesting though, huh?

Is this true about the 2 hr period of each lunar month when the sun and the moon are the same number of degrees apart as they were at the moment of birth?

Hi! I just found out about astrobiology and was wondering if you knew the way to count back and find out when the perfect time for conception is. I can't seem to find anything on the web about it! I was born on Feb. 2, 1981, in Decatur, IL, USA at 9:42 a.m. (central time). Now what do I do with the longitude, latitude, and my birth times to find out my lunar conception time of 2 hours? Email me and let me know if you have any idea! Thanks! :o)

I'll check it out Amber. Was a while back that I looked into this, so will need to refresh my memory. There was a site somewhere that calculated exact position of moon & sun etc and then could give dates for the same positions. Be REALLY interested to see if it works; was not able to confirm it with my friend Mich as she didn't know when she bonked exactly heh.

Ok Amber, my g/f just looked all this up and wrote the following - I'll email it to you as well.

These are your Sun and Moon positions:

Sun Aquarius 13°43'20 11
Moon Capricorn 15°33'36 10

So your angle between sun and moon would be approximately 1°50', which is close to 2°.
You need to calculate the position between Moon and Sun every day from this address (or any other that provides similar data) -- http://www.astro.com
And if the angle between current positions of Sun and Moon is NEARING to be the 1°50', you have to try to conceive (that is because sperm has a couple of days' lifetime).

Here is how you look up the current positions of Sun and Moon.

1) Go to astro.com -> Portrait

2) Enter the data for wherever you currently are, and the desired time of conception (with time!);

3) It will give you an analysis (skip it), and at the bottom, planetary positions (read THAT);

4) Look at the positions of Moon and Sun (the "direct/retrograde" bit is the direction of the movement -- so that you know whether the angle will increase or decrease for the next few days);

5) Go for it when the angle is about to become 150'. If at the time of conception, Moon happens to be in a sign of Water or Earth, it'll be a girl, otherwise -- a boy.

I just looked up my positions and got:

Sun 20° 10'23
Moon 2° 48' 44

but I do not know how to determine the difference in degrees or where the sun and moon are now. Can you please help?

Thank you so very much.

Hi Christy. Go to http://www.astro.com and click on the link that says portrait. Enter your details in there and you can find out - will need your time of birth too.

A bunch of crock? WTF is that supposed to mean? FYI, the expression is 'a crock of shit', not 'a bunch of crock'. That's like saying 'a bunch of piles' instead of 'a pile of shit'... just so ya know. As for the validity of astrobiology - well, once upon a time everyone thought the world was flat and that the universe revolved around us. A closed mind is a wasted mind.
