two-faced cat

two-faced kitten Ok this is pretty bizarre. In June 2000, a two-faced kitten was born in Bensalem, Pennsylvania to a proud mother cat named Butt-Butt (seriously). The kitten, named Image, had two sets of eyes, two mouths, two tongues and two noses. The two mouths operated in unison, simultaneously sneezing, yawning etc., but only one mouth connected to an oesophagus.

Image died four days later and the owner apparently intended to donate Image's body to the Philadelphia Mutter Museum of Medical Oddities. There was some doubt in veterinary circles over the authenticity of Image's story since the vet seemed unaware of the lethal brain abnormalities associated with the condition, however the photos are genuine. A little bizarre, but still a cute kitty.

Hmmm... do you think it's hereditary? [The mother -is- named "Butt-Butt" after all.]
